The golden apple appeared in many Greek Myths and stories, one of the most famous being that of Hercules! On one of Hercules’ labors (his punishment after killing his wife and children) he was told to steal the golden apple in the garden of Hesperides. In order to atone for his crimes, he was demanded to complete 12 super human trials. Hercules (skipping a bunch of godly fights) convinced Atlas to retrieve the apple for him by holding the sky. Atlas of course ran away before Hercules could take the apple to Olympus. However, Hercules tricked him back into holding the sky, completed his trial, and moved on to his twelfth labor.
