Icarus, son of Daedalus, was kept prisoner with his father in the Minotaur’s labyrinth. Daedalus was an incredible inventor and one day figured out a way for him and his son to escape: wings made of wax. While the invention was brilliant, Daedalus warned Icarus not to fly too close to the sun, which would cause the wax to melt. Icarus promised to soar below the clouds, but as soon as he had his first taste of freedom AND the ability to fly, he threw caution to the wind and flew high…. Until the heat of the sun melted the wax that held together the wings. Icarus fell into the sea as Daedalus flew to freedom.
